ARRC Asia Road Racing Championship
The Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC) is Asia's road racing motorcycle championship, organized by FIM Asia. Founded in 1996, it is the highest-level road racing series in the Asian region.
Race History
ARRC was established in 1996 through the consolidation and reorganization of the former Asia GP1 and Asia GP2 championships. The series filled the gap left by the lack of a high-level road racing motorcycle championship in Asia and gradually developed into the flagship motorcycle racing event in the region.
Race Classes
ARRC includes the following main classes:
- Supersports 600cc (600cc sport bikes)
- Underbone 150cc (small-displacement underbone motorcycles)
- Open Category (modified open class)
- UB150 Final Cup (youth rider development class)
Round Distribution
ARRC rounds are held across major Asian racing regions, including Chang International Circuit in Buriram, Thailand; Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia; Suzuka in Japan; Ningbo in China; and Mandalika in Indonesia.
Teams and Riders
Competing riders mainly come from Japan, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, and China. Manufacturers such as Yamaha, Honda, and Suzuki all support teams in the series. Thai riders such as ทรัพย์สิริ พจน์ระหงษ์ have delivered strong performances in ARRC.
Significance for Asian Racing
ARRC is seen as an important stepping stone for Asian riders seeking to enter the international racing stage. Many Asian riders have used ARRC to demonstrate their ability and gain opportunities in the WorldSBK or MotoGP systems.
Technical Level
Because racing modification rules are relatively strict, ARRC's technical competition places greater emphasis on rider skill and team strategy rather than pure horsepower. This makes the series more accessible and well suited for developing new riders' skills.
